Vectran™ fiber exhibits exceptional strength and rigidity. Kuraray acquired VECTRAN™ from Celanese in 2005, and continues to produce this unique fiber in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and in Saijo, Japan. Developed by Kuraray Co. since 1990. The fibre is five times stronger than steel and offers a unique combination of outstanding properties. It is used as a reinforcement fiber in various commercial applications, including ropes, cables, sailcloth, bike tires, and electrical equipment. Pound for pound, Vectran™ fiber is five times stronger than steel and ten times stronger than aluminum.
